Brian Littlejohn

Registered Investment Advisor

Personal finance combines two of my favorite pursuits: helping others and finance. Prior to founding Sherwood, I was an investment advisor at The Wealth Conservancy in Boulder, Colorado. There I provided a diverse group of clients the entire spectrum of wealth management services. In particular, I was responsible for implementing investment strategies for $250 million in client assets. Before pursuing my passion for personal finance, I served as an officer in the United States Air Force. I flew several types of aircraft before transitioning into the engineering field. As an engineer, I managed large-scale construction projects in the United States and overseas. I continue to embrace the Air Force core values of integrity, service, and excellence. I have earned the following relevant degrees and designations:

Master of Science in Financial Analysis (MSFA):

This program focuses on all the areas deemed crucial by the investment management profession and embodied in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation that is awarded by the CFA Institute. These areas include economics, public equity, private equity, hedge funds, natural resources, derivatives, statistics, corporate finance, fixed income, ethics, and portfolio management.

These professionals must (1) meet substantial educational requirements in the areas of risk management, investing, income taxes, retirement planning, and estate planning, (2) pass a rigorous 10-hour examination, (3) have at least three years of experience, and (4) agree to a stringent code of ethics. CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals must also complete 30 hours of continuing education every two years.

When I’m not advising clients or teaching finance courses, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing tennis, hiking, skiing, and traveling. I have been to 48 of the 50 States (Alaska and South Dakota are the holdouts) and have lived in 11 of them.  I attended Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California.
